While celebrated by many Christians as Ash Wednesday, many of the students at Texas Tech also had fun racing, and crashing, our RC cars and slot cars set up in the Student Union. We set up a NASCAR style Tri-oval slot car track, and a big RC track in the middle of the campus for students to race. I have to say I was so impressed by the campus, the student union, and the students themselves. The campus was well organized, the buildings were a mixture of classical and modern architecture, giving an air of gravitas while also feeling inviting. The facility we were in was clean, bright, and welcoming. Perhaps the best part were the students themselves. They were friendly, respectful, and helpful. Young people and College students have been getting a bad reputation in the press recently. Meeting and racing with this great group of students gives me hope for the future.
